Statement
I work on sculpture with media such as ceramics, plaster, cement, paper, discarded assemblies, and drawing with inks and watercolor. My works are visceral and intuitive translations, heavily influenced by both my unconscious and my daily domestic experiences. I explore ideas about identity, the mental world, the body and transformation. Communication is always part of the process, it is part of my identity. I choose topics that challenge me intimately and I use them as a catalyst for personal evolution. I am interested in the form but I am focused on manual making almost non-stop. I embroider, sew and model the material. I superimpose, stack and saturate. I give contrast and movement. The themes of my work aim to translate in an organic way the celerity, the force, the repetition and the accumulation. I want to give lightness to the heavy, fluctuation to the rigid. I fill the void or pile up. I like to generate textures that enable different points of view on the same object. This dance of these and maneuvers are what I use to interweave ideas with matter and thus open a possibility of conversation, an open discussion. A drive to do and then say. But I also want my sculptures to interact with space. I want to generate a concrete or abstract impression, perhaps sometimes even provocatively ambiguous.
